Gas leak reported downtown Hays UPDATE

8:20 a.m.   Mike Morley, Corporate Communications Manager for Midwest Energy told Hays Post he did not believe any gas meter was hit. Midwest Energy crews Midwest Energyhave been replacing gas meters, as part of a planned meter replacement in town. “We’ve had crews from as far away as Norton here to help us quickly complete this planned gas meter replacement project,” he said.  “They were working in alleys between Main Street and Hall on Tuesday.”

6:44 a.m.   Midwest Energy crews are on the scene to repair the damaged gas meter.

6:10 a.m. Hays Fire Department  responded this morning to a report of gas leak at 1009 Main. A gas meter had been hit. Hays Police and Midwest Energy crews were also being sent to the location in the alley behind Kuhns Jewelry.    Few additional details are available.
