8: 30 p.m. The suspect in Saturday morning’s standoff with Hays Police is spending the rest of the weekend in Jail. Twenty-four year old Blake Hadley will be in court this week on criminal charges of Aggravated Battery on a Law Enforcement Officer, DUI, Felony Obstruction, and Felony Eluding.
9:40 a.m. Just before 1 on Saturday morning a Hays Police Officer’s traffic stop turned into a pursuit and a barricaded subject. A twenty-four year old man fled the scene of the traffic stop after the officer asked him to perform some sobriety tests. The officer was briefly drug along by the man’s vehicle as he drove off. The Hays Police Officer sustained minor injuries and was able to disengage from the car and pursued the fleeing driver.
The officers pursued the vehicle through the downtown Hays area until the speeds became high and unsafe prompting the on duty supervisor to call off the pursuit for the safety of the community.
Officers were able to locate the suspect at a residence in the 1000 block of Reservation Road. The suspect barricaded himself in the house and refused to come out for officers. A search warrant was obtained and the Special Situation Response Team was called out.
A Hays Police negotiator was called to the scene in an effort to gain compliance of the suspect for a peaceful resolution. The suspect refused to respond to repeated attempts at communication. Several homes were evacuated for safety purposes.
A warrant was then served by the Hays Police Department and Blake Hadley, a Hays resident, was taken into custody. Hadley is currently being held in the Ellis County Jail.

7:10 a.m. Hays Police arrested a suspect Saturday morning after he drove away during a traffic stop. According to Police, in the midst of a routine stop overnight, a male driver dragged a police officer with a vehicle, and drove away.
Law enforcement officers tracked the suspect to a residence in the 1000 block of Reservation Road.
Just before 7 a.m. on Saturday police ultimately were able to make an arrest.
The police officer involved in the traffic stop suffered only minor injuries, including road rash. There were no other injuries. Hays Fire Department also participated in helping get the suspect from the residence.
