SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) – A judge in Georgia has set an October 4 trial date for Billy Currington. The country star has been charged with threatening a 70-year-old tour boat captain who was cruising past the dock of a waterfront home where the singer was staying. During yesterday’s hearing, Currington’s attorney entered a not guilty plea for the singer. The boat captain and his two passengers said they were cruising along the creek when a man became irate, jumped into his own boat and chased them. When the boat docked, they say Currington cursed the captain and said he and his brother would catch him in the river and “finish him off.” Currington is charged with making terroristic threats and abuse of an elderly person. Each count is a felony punishable by one to five years in prison.
