(AP) — Riley County police are investigating a report of a sexual assault near the campus of Kansas State University.
The report prompted county and Kansas State police to issue a statement Thursday cautioning students and the general public not to walk alone at night.
Police say the assault happened in the early morning hours of Aug. 11. No other details were released.
Kansas State offers a service called Wildcat Walk to students, faculty, staff and guests. Anyone who feels uncomfortable walking alone can call the service to be escorted up to two blocks off campus. People driving to campus can also arrange to be met in a parking lot and escorted to their destination.
