KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Defending MIAA champion Central Missouri once again tops the MIAA preseason women’s soccer poll. The Jennies, who went 10-0-2 last season, earned 11 of the possible 12 first place votes. Central Oklahoma claimed the other first place vote as they were picked to finish second by the coaches.
Northeastern State, who finished 7-4-1 last year, is picked to finish third in the league. The RiverHawks come in just two points ahead of 2012 MIAA tournament champion Fort Hays State who is slated fourth. Northwest Missouri coming off a season where they went 6-4-2 is picked to finish fifth in this year’s poll. Southwest Baptist earns the sixth place slot in the poll while Missouri Southern earned the votes to receive a seventh place ranking.
Nebraska-Kearney is picked eighth in the this season’s coaches poll. Missouri Western is in the ninth slot coming in just one point ahead of Washburn who is slated tenth. Lindenwood has been picked to finish 11th with Emporia State picked to finish 12th this year by the league’s coaches.
The 2013 soccer campaign will get underway on September 5 and will culminate on November 8 & 10 with the conference tournament semi-finals and finals at the College Boulevard Activities Center in Olathe, Kan.
