5 p.m. According to a report from the Kansas Highway Patrol the accident that shut down I-70 on Sunday  involved a semi truck that rear-ended the another. An investigation into what caused the crash continues. The accident occurred at 3:50a.m.

The driver of the semi that rear-ended the other truck, 46-year-old Charles Sexton Jr., of Lansing North Carolina was taken to Salina Regional Health Center for treatment of injuries.

A passenger, 62-year-old Howard Johnson of Wilkesboror North Carolina, was taken to the Hays Medical Center.

The driver of the second semi and a passenger both from Florida were not injured.

12:30 p.m. Westbound lanes of I-70 reopened to traffic just before noon on Sunday following an early morning collission between two semi trucks in Lincoln county.  A nearly 25 mile stretch

of west bound I-70 was temporarily closed.

Lt. J.L. Riedel with the Kansas Highway Patrol said The crash was at milepost 229. Westbound traffic on I-70 was shut down between milepost 249, Halstead Road to milepost 225, K-156 exit to Ellsworth.
