Agriculture producers come see the results of cut stump and basal bark herbicide treatments of locust trees on a pasture in Ellis County.
In the summer of 2012 herbicide treatments were made on Locust tree stumps after being cut down, and two basal bark treatments were applied to standing trees. This test is also being repeated in 2013. Come see the results for yourself a year later, and how the newly treated trees are looking as well.
Range Scientist Keith Harmoney at the Ag Research Center – Hays is conducting this test to see which products will work the best, and to compare the cut stump herbicide treatment to the basal bark treatments.
This field day will be held on Thursday, August 29th beginning at 6:30 p.m. and concluding around 8:00 p.m. It is located approximately 6 miles north of Hays at the intersection of HWY 183 and Locust Grove Road, on the west side of the highway.
No RSVP is necessary, refreshments and snacks will be provided by the K-State Ellis County Extension Office. If you have any questions please call 785-628-9430.
