NASHVILLE (AP) – Even as Randy Travis recovers from a stroke and heart failure he suffered last month, he is putting out new music. Travis will release an album in honor of his musical heroes called “Influence Volume 1: The Man I Am.” Those heroes include Lefty Frizzell, Merle Haggard, Waylon Jennings, George Jones and Ernest Tubb. It’s uncertain when Travis made the recordings. One of the songs will be a duet with Joe Nichols on “Tonight I’m Playin’ Possum,” which Travis debuted during the CMA Music Festival in June. “Influence Volume 1” comes out October 1.
