FHSU Volleyball Sweeps Bethany

The Fort Hays State volleyball team picked up a pair of wins Monday night, defeating Bethany 3-0 in both matches.

The first match, played by the Swedes junior varsity and the Tiger reserves, saw the FHSU win 25-14, 25-13, 25-12. Yadira Jacquez had 13 kills and 11 digs to lead the Tigers. Taylor Elkinton added 40 assists.

The Tigers jumped to an early 13-1 lead in the second match against the Bethany varsity and won the first set 25-8. The Tigers trailed in the second set, but scored the final five points in a 25-18 victory. They jumped out to another big early lead in the third set and win 25-14.

Megan Glandon led the Tigers with 11 kills and no errors, hitting .786 for the match. Madison Schwartz added 10 kills. Kayla Zogleman had 25 assists and Tracie Hileman 10 digs.

Fort Hays State improves to 8-5 with the victories, eclipsing the teams win totals from the past two seasons. They return to MIAA play Friday at home against Northwest Missouri State then Saturday against Truman State.
