Fort Hays State University women’s soccer team dropped a 1-0 road contest to Central Missouri on Thursday night.

FHSU (2-4, 0-1 MIAA) managed just five shots in the game (four were on goal), while the Jennies (3-2-1, 1-0 MIAA) fired 15 total shots – five of which were on goal.

Amanda Talbott, Hailey Davey, Bailey Snyder and Jordan Hester all had shots on goal for the Tigers, while Hannah Smith fired the other attempt in the game.

Nicole Barnaba played all 90 minutes in goal, saving four shot attempts in the losing effort.

In the first 45 minutes of the contest, FHSU was out-shot, 9-1, with the Tigers’ lone attack coming from Hester, just 11:19 into the game.

Coming out of the half, the Tigers continued to hold strong on defense, despite another 6-4 disadvantage in shots fired.

FHSU’s defense fought off the Jennies’ attack until 87:33, when the game-winner was scored by CMU’s Emily Elridge on a free kick from approximately 30 yards out.

The Tigers continue their road trip on Saturday with a 10 a.m., match against Southwest Baptist in Bolivar, Mo.
