Man shot by homeowner sentenced

A Wichita man who was shot by a home owner near Burrton, during a series of car thefts and chases, has been sentenced to more than 11 years in prison. 36-year-Stanleyold Jack Stanley was sentenced to 136 months in four different cases.

Stanley was wounded after breaking into the man’s garage and stealing his pickup. The homeowner said the man tried to run him over with his own truck and that’s why he fired a shotgun at him. The homeowner fired a second time hitting Stanley after he confronted the home owner.

Stanley was able to get away and later stole a minivan from a home in Halstead. That vehicle was found stuck on the north side of the Arkansas River in northwest Sedgwick County. The suspect was eventually captured about two miles from that vehicle.
