Friday Interstate Truck Fire

Emergency crews were called out early Friday morning to the scene of a semi on fire at milepost 86 on I-135 just south of Salina.

The truck was full with 40,000 pounds of pork bellies. They were destroyed.

The truck was southbound on I-135 and at milepost 86.5, Walter Riggle, the truck driver, noticed smoke coming from the rear of trailer.

He stopped and put a small fire out near the rear tires. Fire reignited and destroyed trailer and contents; semi had minor damage and had to be towed.
