On Friday all pre-kindergarten through 12th grade educators, paraeducators, administrators, and other staff with USD 489 attended an inservice on educating children from poverty. 

Anna Huynh, elementary teacher at Westside school in Hays and a certified Ruby Payne Trainer  presented the  program from Payne’s ground-breaking research about educating children from poverty.

This training, at the American Legion in Hays, offered an opportunity to understand the complexities that arise from experiencing poverty and how it impacts a child’s learning.
