State NAACP Conference set to open

The Kansas State Conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) will host its 70th Annual State Conference on Friday andNAACP Saturday in Salina. The event will be held at the Webster Conference Center.

There will be workshops featuring information on the Affordable Health Care Act, Education, Legal Redress and Economic Development.  As is our tradition, there will be a Soul Food Dinner on Friday evening.   Also, on display will be exhibits on the history of  their Kansas Branches.   On Saturday they will be holding State elections and that evening they will hold the annual Gospel Extravaganza and Freedom Fund Banquet with Dr. Nathaniel Terrell, Chairperson of the Kansas African American Affairs Commission as keynote speaker.
