The Fort Hays State volleyball hadn’t won a set over rival Nebraska-Kearney since 2005. They ended that streak on Tuesday night but the Lopers continued their dominance over the Tigers defeating them for the 16th straight match 3-1 at Gross Coliseum, snapping the Tigers six-match win streak. FHSU fals to 12-13 overall and 3-8 in the MIAA while the seventh-ranked Lopers improve to 22-3 and 8-2 in the conference.

Taylor Mares hit .296 in the match and led the Tigers with 13 kills. Libby Ary recorded a team-high 14 assists while Makenzie Weinman had 18 digs and Jenna Ulrich six block assists.
UNK scored the first three points of the opening set and won it 25-13. The Tigers rallied from a 16-11 deficit in the second with a 7-1 run and win the set 25-22. They raced out to a 5-1 lead in the third but the Lopers used a 12-3 run late to take control and win 25-18. UNK dominated the fourth 25-11.
The Tiger hit .057 for the match compared to UNK’s .264.
Fort Hays State hits the road this weekend for MIAA matches at Central Oklahoma and Pittsburg State. The Tigers take on UCO at 6 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, and PSU on Saturday, Nov. 2 at 6:30 p.m.
