Tigers Lead After First Round of FHSU Invite

The Fort Hays State women’s golf team leads after the first round of the FHSU Invitational in Hays, Kan. The tournament is being held at the Smoky Hill Country Club, a par-71 course. The Tigers shot 342 on the first day and lead by six strokes over conference foe Missouri Western. Northwest Missouri State is 13 strokes back in third.

Kiley Johansen paced the Tigers on the first day, shooting 82. She is alone in second place, three strokes back of tournament leader Kristen Cooley of Missouri Western, who shot 79.

The three other team scorers for Fort Hays State are all in the top 10 after the first day. Samantha Hobson is tied for 5th after a round of 85. Samantha Nielsen is alone in eighth after a round of 87. Jordan Nixon shot 88 and is currently tied for ninth. Also competing for FHSU were Carmen Thompson, who shot a 90 and Arin Powers is playing as an individual and shot 111.

The final round of the tournament will be a shotgun start, beginning at 9 am on Tuesday morning.
