KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Jessica Fey (Washburn) and Kayla Zoglman (Fort Hays State) have been named MIAA Volleyball Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Sept. 19-24 as selected by a conference SID panel. 

MIAA HITTER OF THE WEEK
Jessica Fey, RH, Washburn
In three straight sweeps over MIAA opponents last week, Fey averaged 2.89 kills, 1.11 blocks and 3.67 points a set. The junior from Crete, Neb., had four blocks and hit .400 with eight kills at Northwest Missouri on Tuesday. Friday, she stepped up the attack with 11 kills and added a block against No. 24 Truman. Saturday, Fey had five blocks against Missouri Western.

MIAA SPECIALIST OF THE WEEK
Kayla Zoglman, S, Fort Hays State
Zoglman helped lead the Fort Hays State volleyball team to a 3-1 record in the past week, which included an upset win over No. 24 Truman. The Tigers defeated the Bulldogs in five sets for their first conference win of the 2011 season to improve to 9-6 on the year. The win also snapped a 32-match conference losing streak dating back to October 21, 2009 and a 49-match winless streak against ranked opponents which dated back to November 19, 2004. Zoglman, a junior transfer from Goddard, Kan., had at least 25 assists in each match she played (the first match against Bethany featured reserves from both teams), and she matched her season-high of 59 in the match against Truman. Zoglman had a double-double against the Bulldogs by adding 12 digs to go along with three service aces, including one in the fifth set which gave the Tigers a 10-7 lead in the set and forced a Truman timeout. She averaged 10.33 assists per set for the week and added 25 digs, six kills and five blocks.
