ATVs allowed on city streets

wakeeney city logoRECORD OF THE PROCEEDINGS OF THE GOVERNING BODY 19 NOVEMBER 2013

The Governing Body of the City of WaKeeney, Kansas met in a regular session at City Hall 408 Russell Ave at 7:00 PM with the Mayor presiding and the following members present:

Mayor Kenneth Roy and Council Members Mary Jo Clevenger, Irene Dirks, Troy Leiker, Lynelle Shubert, and Allen Weigel

BEING ABSENT: None

The minutes of the previous meeting were approved as written, printed and distributed.

GUESTS: Cory Garner, Addie Zeman, Macy Mattheyer, Abraham Pfannenstiel, Sadie Dinkel, Kimberly Day, Brittany Brock, Tyler Lowry, Lisa Kuhn, Dour Carr, Terry Eberle, and Janelle Miller

Jason Hickson, Trego REC Director and members of the Trego REC Board of Directors were present before the City Council to discuss the idea of relocating the north Legion baseball field onto city owned land adjacent to the south ball fields and then redeveloping the north field into residential housing lots. The idea was discussed at length but no decision was made pending additional cost and funding information.

CHIEF OF POLICE: Terry Eberle provided his monthly departmental report. Also presented was Ordinance #1432 allowing for the operation of special purpose vehicles (ATV’s, golf carts, worksite utility vehicles) within the city upon receiving a permit from the police department. After a short review, Allen Weigel motioned to approve ordinance #1432, Troy Leiker seconded. Motion carried.

CITY ADMINISTRATOR: City Administrator Hardy Howard discussed providing WAMPUM bucks to the employees as a Christmas bonus. A motion was made by Mary Jo Clevenger and seconded by Lynelle Shubert to allocate $50 WAMPUM per employee. Motion carried.

The city’s five year Capital Improvement Plan was reviewed by the Governing Body.

No further business appearing, the meeting was adjourned.
