The Ellis County Rural Fire Department responded to a structure fire Monday.  According to Fire Chief Richard L. Klaus, the incident happened shortly after 11:00 p.m., in the 800 block of Moscow St in Munjor.

Klaus said that there were people in the home when the fire started.  The occupants smelled the smoke, exited the building and called 911.  The electrical fire began in a ceiling fan and burned a hole through the ceiling, causing extensive smoke damage to the second story.

Fire Companies 9, 5 and 4 from Hays, Victoria and Munjor responded to the call and were able to extinguish the blaze.  Crews were able to leave the scene shortly after 2:00 am.

Klaus estimated that based on the extent of the damage the house will be a total loss.  There were no injuries.
