Two killed, two hurt in western Kansas rollover

LARNED — Two Georgia men were killed in a rollover accident in western Kansas at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2005 Kia Sorrento driven by Jeremiah J. Mendez, 24, Morrow, Ga., was eastbound on Kansas 156 2 miles west of Larned when the vehicle left the roadway, struck a sign, came back onto the roadway then rolled multiple times.

Mendez and a passenger, Mark S. Wheelous, 24, Atlanta, were killed as a result of injuries sustained in the accident.

Two passengers — Charles L. Clark, 22, Atlanta, and John M. Mendez, 21, Forest Park, Ga. — were injured and transported to Pawnee Valley Community Hospital, Larned, for treatment.

The KHP reported only the driver was wearing a seat belt.
