WICHITA (AP) — Police say a 70-year-old Wichita man was arrested after he shot a 10-year-old boy while playing a game of “quick draw” with his gun.
The boy was grazed by the bullet in the incident Sunday. Officers were called when he was taken to a hospital, where he was treated and released. A 14-year-old boy who was also in the house in southeast Wichita was not injured.
KAKE-TV reported police allege the man began playing “quick draw” with the boys, using his .22 caliber handgun, and accidentally fired a shot. The boys aren’t related to the man, who is a friend of the 14-year-old boy’s mother.
The man was booked for aggravated battery and two counts of aggravated child endangerment but no formal charges have been filed.
