ELLSWORTH — A Fort Riley soldier was killed in a single-vehicle accident at 12:26 p.m. Tuesday on Interstate 70 near Ellsworth.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2006 Pontiac G6 driven by Calvin J. Michalak, 22, was westbound on the interstate when the vehicle left the roadway, entered the median and struck concrete bridge pillars.

Next of kin was notified by a military chaplain, and Michalak was taken to Parsons Funeral Home, Ellsworth.

The KHP reported he was not wearing a seat belt.
