Second half run pushes FHSU past Hardrockers

Craig Nicholson led five Fort Hays Tigers scored 20 points to lead the Fort Hays State Tigers to an 84-69 win over South Dakota Mines Thursday night at Gross Coliseum. The win is FHSU’s seventh straight and improves their record to 15-3. The Hardrockers falls 6-13.

The Tigers led by 16 late in the first half but the Hardrockers scored the final six points of the half to pull with 1o at halftime. They closed the gap to three with 14:29 to play, but the Tigers answer with a 23-8 run to push the lead to 18.

The Tigers shot 51-percent from the floor and hit 23-of-32 free throws. Dwayne Brunson scored 17, James Fleming 14, Carson Konrade 13 and Tomislav Gabric 10.
