Hays Medical Center physicians hope the just-completed expansion and renovation of the Dreiling-Schmidt Cancer Center will help patients feel more comfortable.

The 4,000-square-foot expansion provides four more treatment rooms, expanded exam rooms, a consultation center, more windows and a soothing decor. Director of Pharmacology and Oncology Services Willy Cadoret said the enhanced privacy and comfort make a difference:

The exterior of the Dreiling-Schmidt Cancer Center also received a significant facelift.

Partial funding of the renovation came from contributions given to the HaysMed Foundation capital campaign, Beyond Medicine.

Cadoret said the cancer treatment and trials available in Hays means patients and their families don’t have to drive to Denver or Kansas City hospitals for advanced care.
