HHS Girls’ Golf Sets School Record At Regional

The Hays High girls’ golf team set a new school record Monday, winning the Salina 5A regional at the Salina Municipal Golf Course.

The Indians fired a 331, which is the lowest 18-hole tournament score in school history, breaking the old mark of 334 set earlier this year on the same course.

Hays High placed four in the top-five led by Holly Hattan who finished second with an 80, three off the lead. Kaycee Bielman and Natalie Bethel both fired 83’s with Beilman finishing third and Bethel fourth after winning on the second hole of a playoff. Maddie Curry fired an 85 to finish sixth, Alexyss Leiker eighth with a 92 and Taylor Herman 12th with a 95.

The Indians will play on their home course for state Monday when they host the 5A tournament at Smoky Hill Country Club.
