The Ellis County Commission Monday night approved a resolution allowing beer sales on Sundays in unincorporated Ellis County.

There is a sixty-day protest petition period, and if a valid petition is filed, then the issue would again go to a public vote. Commissioner Swede Holmgren is concerned about a low voter turnout, which was the case when this issue was first decided.

The commission is still looking for clarification on who can vote if there is an election. In the previous vote only residents of the unincorporated area could cast a ballot.
