FHSU football opens spring practice

Near summer-like conditions greeted the Fort Hays State football team as they held their first spring practice Monday afternoon at Lewis Field. Head coach Chris Brown, who is completing his second full season, says developing depth is one of his goals this spring “we have to find depth, especially on special teams. We can’t have our starters on every special team” Brown said.

The Tigers have improved their win total in each of Brown’s first two seasons, going 5-6 in 2012 and 6-5 this past season. Brown says he feels his team is slowly starting to turn the corner “the kids have worked really hard. They’re holding each other accountable. They’re doing the things that they need to do to be more successful” Brown said.

The Tigers have two more practices scheduled for this week before taking a week off for spring break. They will then have 12 more practices after spring break.
