Suspect dead in NW Kansas officer-involved shooting

Oberlin–  The KBI is investigating an officer involved shooting in Oberlin on Monday night that left one man dead.

According to a release from the Decatur County Sheriff’s office, authorities were called to investigate a report of possible criminal activity.

When an officer and Kansas Highway Patrol trooper arrived, the suspect ran.

During a foot chase in the 700 block of East Commercial, the suspect turned and fired at officers.  They returned fire killing the suspect. No other details have been released.

The Kansas Highway Patrol, Oberlin Police and the Decatur County Sheriff’s office are also participating in the ongoing investigation.
