The Hays Police Department will be conducting a nighttime seatbelt enforcement Tuesday, March 18.

The event will be from 7:00p.m. to 11p.m. and officers will focus on the areas of 13th and Main Street and 13th and Vine Street.

According to HPD Sergeant Mitch Berens, “statistics show that seatbelt usage significantly decreases during nighttime hours. Our purpose is to enforce seatbelt and child restraint laws during nighttime hours.”

This event will be conducted in accordance with the Kansas Department of Transportation Nighttime Seatbelt Enforcement Program.
