Adams, Phillips, and Craig Named MIAA Football Student-Athletes of the Week

KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Trevor Adams (Northwest Missouri), Ryon Phillips (Missouri Southern), and Jake Craig (Pittsburg State) have been named MIAA Football Student-Athletes of the Week for the week of Oct. 15 as selected by a conference SID panel.

MIAA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Trevor Adams, QB, Northwest Missouri
Adams tied a school record with five touchdown passes, leading the Bearcats from three separate 7-point deficits in the first quarter. The sophomore from Odessa, Texas, finished with 444 yards passing, which was 29 yards short of the Northwest single-game record. He was able to find 10 different receivers and with three players of four catches and 50 yards or more. Adams connected with Brian Miller on the first play from scrimmage for a game long 80-yard TD pass and catch.

MIAA DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Ryon Phillips, DE, Missouri Southern
Phillips had his second multiple-sack game of the year this weekend when he grabbed three sacks against Truman. The Freshman from Royse City, Texas, had eight tackles, including five for a loss of 24 yards. He helped lead the Lions’ defense that held Truman to just one first down over the final 8:40 of the game, including three three and out drives. For the season, Phillips leads the Lions with five sacks.

MIAA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Jake Craig, P, Pittsburg State
Craig played a key role in field position for No. 7 Pitt State in the Gorillas 69-6 victory over Lincoln Saturday (Oct. 15). The Lyons, Kan., native punted three times for a 54.0-yard average, including a career-long 68 yarder. He also kicked off 11 times for a 57.9-yard average with three touchbacks. The Blue Tigers average starting field position off kickoffs was the LU 32 yard line.
