“This is a great day in Eagle’s history,” said Gary Shorman, Eagle Communications CEO. “Our Employee-Owners have built a successful company which provides the latest in technology to our communities. We believe that with the addition of these Nebraska and Colorado communities, our customers will see even greater technology in the future.”

Eagle’s beginnings started in 1948 with KAYS radio in Hays, expanded to KAYS TV in 1958 and, in 1962, began cable television operations with Hays Cable TV Co. Since then, Eagle has expanded to offering full-service broadband technology including digital television, high-speed Internet and television service to thousands of households and businesses in the Midwest.

“This is a huge opportunity for our company and our 270 Employee-Owners,” said Travis Kohlrus, Eagle Communications Broadband Division general manager. “The additional communities are very similar to our existing towns — rural, small towns with hard-working people. We strive to bring the latest in technology to those communities.”

The 28 Nebraska communities involved in the acquisition are Albion, Alma, Bellwood, Big Springs, Cedar Rapids, Central City, Franklin, Fullerton, Genoa, Humphrey, Monroe, Newman Grove, Osceola, Palmer, Paxton, Platte Center, Polk, Red Cloud, Richland, Rising City, Schuyler, Shelby, Silver Creek, Spalding, St. Edward and Stromsburg. Burlington, Colo., rounds out the acquisition.
