A children’s song written by Randy Sauer, Hays, has been nominated for 2014 Best Children’s Song from the Indie Music Channel.

“Dig Into Reading” was one of five songs nominated for the award. “Dig Into Reading” already has won third place in the children’s category of the 2013 Dallas Songwriters Association Songwriting Contest.

Sauer and his wife, Niki, will travel to California on April 26 and 27 to attend the red carpet awards show. The awards show will take place April 27 at the historic Whiskey A Go Go in Hollywood.

Sauer, a longtime music teacher, is a familiar face at area events and regularly performs at Hays Public Library.
