Kansas man arrested for aggravated robbery

On Sunday afternoon, the Riley County Police Department received a 911 call from Richard Rothfuss, 69, of Junction City, KS. robbery.jpegRothfuss reported that he was confronted by an armed male in the 3100 block of Anderson Ave. and forced to drive to the 4100 block of Marlatt Ave. where his personal property was taken from him. The suspect in this case then left in Rothfuss’ 2014 black Chevrolet Silverado valued at approximately $30,000. Also taken from the victim was $150.00 in US currency, a bank card, and a cell phone. Rothfuss subsequently walked to a nearby home and reported the incident to police.

Jerred Dean Snyder, 30, listed as homeless was later arrested for Aggravated Robbery, Kidnapping, Aggravated Battery, Aggravated Assault, and Criminal Use of a Financial Card. He is confined at the time of this release in lieu of $100,000.00.

Prior to the aforementioned incident, police were contacted by Dianna Philippi, 61, of 739 Dehoff Dr., Manhattan, who reported that a former roommate (Snyder) may have taken  personal property from her home. Police ultimately responded and after an investigation into the matter made an arrest for the theft of a Viewsonic projector, Bushnell night-vision binoculars, a DXG-5EOV camcorder, a Nintendo DS game and Nintendo 3DSXL, one hunting knife, and a Sentry fire safe (damaged). The total estimated loss is $2,149.00.

Snyder was also arrested for the offenses of theft, criminal damage to property and making false information (claiming property to be his on a pawn slip). The bond associated with these offenses is $5,000.00.

Police were also able to make an arrest on an investigation from April 3, 2014 that involved Joseph Cronn, 32, of 3326 Woodduck Way in Manhattan who reported that his firearm was missing from his house (a Springfield Armory Model XDM 40 Caliber valued at $550.00). Follow up investigation revealed that the gun had been pawned under false pretenses. Snyder was also arrested for this theft and was given an additional bond of $5,000.00.
