Hays High Boys Soccer Edges TMP-Marian

The Hays High boys soccer team wrapped up their regular season with 3-2 a win over crosstown rival TMP-Marian in the first high school game played at the new Fort Hays State Soccer Stadium.

In the first non-tournament meeting between the two, the Indians held a 1-0 lead at the half following a Jordan Windholz goal in the 12th minute off an assist from Lane Clark.

The Monarchs tied it on a free kick from Michel Gonzales in the 44th minute. Clark then hooked up with Windholz again in the 48th minute to give the Indians a 2-1 lead. Three minutes later, Hays would go up 3-1 when Cody Brown sent the ball long to Kellen Griffin who converted for the score. The Monarchs would pull back within a one in Michel Gonzales second goal in the 66th minute.

The win improves the Indians to 7-9 while TMP-Marian drops to 6-10. Both teams find out Saturday who and where they play for the post season which begins next week.
