For a second straight game, the Hays High girls’ soccer team comes from behind to win in overtime. The latest was Thursday in Liberal where they come back for a 4-3 win in two overtimes.
The Indians trailed 1-0 at the half and were down 2-0 early in the second until a goal from Tressa Becker with an assist from Rachel Luedders four minutes in made it 2-1. Maddie Keller, assisted by Reagan Kaiser, tied the match at 2-2 in the eighth minute of the second half.
After Liberal scored in the 31st minute, Talyn Kleweno scored the equalizer on an assist from Tressa Becker with two minutes to play to force the overtime.
After a scoreless first overtime period, Brooke Russell netted the game winner on a free kick with 22 seconds to play.
The win lifts the Indians to 4-2 overall and 2-0 in the Western Athletic Conference.
