A two-week layoff didn’t appear to effect the Hays High softball team as they cruised to a pair of run-rule wins in Dodge City Thursday. Hanna Hearld allowed just one hit, striking out 10 and walking one in a five-inning 17-0 win in game one. Hearld and Madison Prough combined to allow just one hit in a 16-0 win in the second game which ended after three innings.

After two scoreless innings in the opener, the Indians exploded for eight runs in the third. They added five in the fourth and four in the fifth. Tessa Stickel hit a grand slam and drove in five.

The Indians struck for two in the first, nine in the second and five in the third in the second contest. Hearld, Albany Schaffer and Kaylie Schoendaller all homered in game two. Schaffer and Nicole Dinkel both drove in three.

The Indians are now 4-0 and 2-0 in the Western Athletic Conference. They play at Salina South on Thursday April 17th.
