Roadwork begins next week in Phillips/Smith counties

Kansas Department of Transportation

On Wednesday, a resurfacing project will begin on a 29-mile stretch of Kansas 9 from U.S. 183 to U.S. 281.

The scope of the project is to mill the existing pavement and overlay with 1.5 inches of new asphalt.

APAC Kansas, Inc. of Hays is the primary contractor on the $2.2 million project.

The project is expected to be complete by late May.

The Kansas Department of Transportation urges all motorists to be alert, obey the warning signs, and “Give ‘Em a Brake!” when approaching and driving through the project work zone.

For more information on this project, contact Jim Riener, construction engineer, at (785) 543-8433 or [email protected].
