Sarah Rankin was appointed to the Hays USD 489 Board of Education at Monday’s meeting.

She was among seven applicants for the position vacated by Darren Schumacher.

The other candidates announced were Jerald Braun, Mandy Fox, Patrick Scott, Kris Munsch, Paul Adams and Luke Oborny.

Rankin, a University of Kansas graduate with degrees in business administration and sociology, serves on the board of directors of Hays Medical Center Foundation and is fundraising chairwoman for the O’Loughlin PTA, where she has volunteered since 2010.
