Takeback day pulls nearly 150 pounds of drugs off the streets (VIDEO)

The Ellis County Drug Enforcement Unit collected 147 pounds of expired, unwanted or unused prescription and over-the-counter drugs at the annual drug takeback day Saturday.

The Law Enforcement Center collection site gathered 96 pounds, while a new site this year, Good Samaritan Center, collected 51 pounds, the Ellis County Sheriff’s Department reported Monday:

The department offered its thanks to the public for participating in the initiative, which takes potentially dangerous substances off the streets in a safe manner.
