KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Washburn was voted No. 1 in both the MIAA coaches and media preseason women’s basketball polls, released Tuesday by the conference office as part of MIAA Women’s Basketball Virtual Media Day.
In the coaches poll, the Lady Blues were the unanimous No. 1 section, receiving 10 of 11 first-place votes (coaches could not vote for their own school) and 100 total points. Emporia State received the other first-place vote and 87 points to come in at No. 2. Central Missouri was voted No. 3 with 83 points, and Pittsburg State came in at No. 4 with 69 points.
Washburn received 12 first-place votes and 171 points to earn the No. 1 spot in the media poll. Emporia State comes in at No. 2 with three first-place votes and 154 points, while Northwest Missouri received one first-place vote and totaled 139 points to take the No. 3 slot. Pittsburg State is No. 4 with 116 points.
