HOLLYWOOD, Calif. — Hays musician Randy Sauer is winner of the 2014 Indie Music Channel Best Children’s Song.
The awards were held Sunday in Hollywood.
His first reaction? “I can’t believe it!”
After a day to reflect, Sauer told Hays Post, “I feel very blessed and honored to have won this award. It was a thrill to have my song played and to be on stage at the world-famous Whiskey a Go Go in Hollywood, Calif. There were many great musicians from all over the world in attendance at this event.”
Sauer is a local children’s songwriter and singer, and is the resident music teacher at Holy Family Elementary School in Hays.
The song that won Best Children’s Song is called “Dig Into Reading.” Sauer wrote it as the theme song for last summer’s children’s reading program at the Hays Public Library.
On his Facebook page, Sauer wrote, “I don’t have a manager or producer. I tried to get some people in the children’s industry to help me a few years ago but they weren’t interested. I guess with a lot of hard work, the drive to succeed and faith in God you can follow your dreams and make them happen. I also have a very supportive wife and family!”
Sauer regularly performs concerts called “Randy’s Music Jam,” a fun and interactive music show for the entire family.
