ELLIS — Summer vacation will start a few hours earlier than expected to Ellis after an end-of-the-year schedule change.

Ellis USD 388 announced Wednesday the 2013-14 term will be completed at the end of the school day May 20. Students originally were to go to school for a half-day on May 21.

Teachers will return to school the morning of May 21 to “discuss procedural information concerning personnel,” according to a message sent by the district.

Despite dropping the half day of classes, Ellis will have exceeded the minimum 1,116 hours required for a full school year.
