N.W. Kansas man falls asleep, is injured in Wednesday accident

KHPGOODLAND—A Kansas man was injured in a Wednesday afternoon crash in Sherman County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2008 Pontiac driven by Braden T. Schmid, 20, St. Francis, was northbound on K-27 four miles north of Goodland.

The driver fell asleep causing the vehicle to cross the roadway into oncoming traffic.

The vehicle continued into the west ditch and a field coming to rest at the bottom of a ravine.

Schmid was transported to Goodland Regional Medical Center.

The KHP said he was wearing a seat belt.
