The Hays American Legion Post 173 will be hosting a Memorial Day service Monday. Ceremonies will begin at 10 a.m. at post headquarters, 1305 Canterbury in Hays. All of the ceremonies will take place inside.
The featured speaker at the event will be retired Army Ranger Taft Yates, the current police chief in the city of Ellis. Yates also has 20-plus years of military experience under his belt. After the ceremony, a donation-based meal will also be offered.
The Legion has held a ceremony for over 20 years. Members of the Legion are expecting over 150 people to attend the celebration on Monday.
Hays Post and Eagle Community Television will rebroadcast the ceremony soon for those unable to attend. Stay tuned for times and dates.
