Every year, the Leadership Hays class organizes a fundraising project with proceeds benefiting area children.

This year, the 2014 Leadership Hays Class has selected CASA of the High Plains for a “Rockin’ with CASA” benefit on Friday, June 13.

It’s an evening of live music at Singers, 114 E. 12th, featuring F.A.T.E. — Franks’s Attribute to Elvis — starting at 8 p.m. followed by D.o.C at 10 p.m.

Smokin’ Co. Bar-B-Q will set up outside for food purchases.

There also will be chances to win prizes including cash, a television, patio set and services from local businesses.

Concert tickets are $10 in advance and available at the Hays Welcome Center, Nex-Tech, Nex-Tech Wireless and Eagle Communications’ Dillons location. Tickets are also available at the door for $15.casa logo

CASA stands for Court Appointed Special Advocates.

Judges appoint volunteers to represent the best interests of children who have been removed from their homes due to abuse or neglect. CASA volunteers make sure that the child does not get lost in the legal and social service systems, or languish in a foster home. The same volunteer stays on the case until the child is placed in a safe, permanent home.

CASA of the High Plains serves the 23rd Judicial District of Ellis, Rooks, Trego and Gove counties.
