Once again, Ellis County was primarily bypassed by another spring storm system, with the highest official report from Sunday at 0.51 inches in Hays. Rain gauges showed paltry reading in west and northwest Ellis County, with as little as 0.06 inches reported.

The K-State Ag Research Center reported 0.4 inches of precipitation.

High wind buffeted Hays on Sunday, leading to a power outage affecting in southern Hays and into Rush County.

Most of Russell County received more than an inch of rain, with the highest reported total at 1.67 inches in the western portion of the county. Areas of Gove, Smith, Ness and Norton counties also exceeded an inch of rain from Sunday’s front.

Parched areas farther west reported even less rainfall than Ellis County, with a Thomas County reporting only 0.02 inches.

The forecast is showing mostly sunny Monday with the slim chance of more precipitation Tuesday evening.
