Movoto.com ranked Hays behind Manhattan and Lawrence in the lists of cities in Kansas with more than 10,000 population. Factors such as nightlife, live music venues, restaurants and the percentage of young residents were considered.

Movoto ranked Hays second in the number of music venues and entertainment options per capita, specifically noting attractions such as Singer’s and Sternberg Museum of Natural History.
