GREAT BEND — Thanks to Sunday’s rain that dumped between 1 and 2 inches of rain throughout the county, Barton County commissioners Monday voted to lift the burn ban that has been in place since March 24.
Great Bend Fire Chief Mike Napolitano represented county fire chiefs in asking the board to lift the ban. Napolitano told commissioners all county fire Chiefs were on board in asking for the burn ban to be lifted.
Since March 24, all outdoor burning has been prohibited in the rural areas of Barton County, with the exception of agricultural burning for crop and pasture management practices.
