Kansas woman hospitalized after semi-truck collision

Screen Shot 2014-05-20 at 9.53.00 AMSTRONG CITY-One person was injured in semi-truck accident on Monday in Chase County.

The Kansas Highway Patrol reported a 2010 Ford Escape driven by Joyce G. Hanlin, 69, Emporia, was westbound on U.S. 50 ten miles east of Strong City.

The Ford was stopped to make a left turn onto ZZ Road.

A semi-truck driven by Luther Mallett, 68, Chicago, IL., was also westbound on U.S. 50. The semi swerved in attempted to avoid a collision but struck the Ford.

Hanlin was transported to Newman Regional Medical Center. Three children under the age of 9 in the Ford were not injured. Mallett was not injured.

The KHP reported everyone was properly restrained at the time of the accident.
