Sheriff: Parole search yields drugs and three arrests

russell co jail signRUSSELL — Three people were arrested and transported to the Russell County Jail Wednesday after the Russell County Sheriff’s office assisted the Kansas Department of Corrections Parole Division with a home visit.

Sheriff John Fletcher said in a news release family members of Cody Casper denied Casper was home during the visit, saying he was at work. A check of his work location and a phone call to his supervisor revealed Casper was not at work.

A subsequent search of the home by officers found Casper hiding in a closet. He gave himself up.

During talks with his mother, Shelly Casper, a strong smell of marijuana was coming from her room, Fletcher said. She allegedly admitted to having and smoking marijuana and then turned over her drugs and paraphernalia.

Other drugs and paraphernalia reportedly were located during the parole search in Cody Casper’s living area.

Officers arrested Cody Casper, Shelly Casper and Audra Griffin for drug possession, possession of drug paraphernalia and felony obstruction.
